Putting on Make up

Put on makeup to achieve daytime and nighttime looks

All over the world, women have used makeup not just during weddings and other special occasions.  In fact, a vast majority of women feel they are leaving the house naked without applying makeup on.  And while the applying makeup has become a second nature for many women since Cleopatra’s time, many women still plunge to the pitfalls of applying makeup.

There are things to consider when applying makeup for daytime look and makeup meant for nighttime.  In fact, there is a big difference between the two techniques of applying makeup.  You would look boring and lifeless when you apply the daytime makeup during a night-out on the city.  On the other hand, you might be overdressed for the office if you apply makeup meant for night time.

The key to daytime makeup is enhancing your natural features. The colors that you need to use should create a fresh and young look.

This means more of the neutral earth tone colors in matte, like brown, taupe for those with fair complexion and pinkish tone for those with whiter skin.

Always start with your foundation as base.  In a daytime makeup, apply foundation with a light hand, all over your face and neck.  Make sure you use a shade one color lighter than your skin, but not too light.  When using foundation, do not forget to apply some on your neck otherwise you might end up looking like a Japanese geisha!

Also apply concealer where you need it.  Use a hydrating concealer to moisturize your eyes and balance skin texture.  Using your fingers, lightly tap some amount around your eyes and areas where there is pigmentation.  Then, set your foundation with the use of a face powder.  Mineral powder is best used during winter so as to lock in the moisture, while the oil control powder can be used during summer.

You can opt to apply some eye shadow during daytime.  Just make sure it complements your eye color and create that fresh look.  Blue, violet and red eye shadows are out of the picture.

If you plan to use eyeliner do not use the liquid type, as this would create a heavy intense look.  Again, remember that we want a more natural look for daytime makeup.  Instead, the pencil type with a neutral shade.

Using false eye lashes is also a bad idea. As a substitute, use eyelash curlers and lightly brush brown mascara thereafter.  Using a waterproof mascara is better, to avoid blotting and smudging of your eye makeup.

Then, lightly dab a light colored blush-on on your cheeks, forehead and nose, just to get some natural color going.

For the lips, you might want to consider using a lip gloss or lip shimmer instead of the usual lip stick.  Otherwise, use a lipstick with a pinkish or light orange shade.

Night time is where the drama begins.  If you are coming from work and you have already applied some daytime makeup on, you can add a little more makeup especially since the lighting is dimmer.

First, start with your foundation.  If you already have on one, you can just reapply and add some eye bag concealer to hide the dark circles around your eyes.   Then brush mineral or a translucent powder all over your face to even out the color.

The emphasis when applying makeup for night-time are the eyes.

Eye makeup is composed of three shades.  For the base, crease and highlight, apply darker shades.  Different shades of gray and brown can create a smoky effect that will give a more intense look.

Then reapply more amount of blush on than what you used during day time.  Just don’t over do it!  Lastly, apply a more intense colored lipstick for that soft and more vibrant look.
